MISSION
STATEMENT
"Be
it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason
for this school, the unseen but ever present teacher
in its classes, the model of its faculty, the inspiration
of its students.”
Our mission is to bring the message of Jesus Christ,
as understood in the Roman Catholic tradition, to the
faculty, staff, students and their families in a way
that challenges them to integrate the gospel of Christ
into their daily lives.
To
fulfill this mission Holy Name School will:
-
Encourage growth among students and faculty
- Develop
social skills through a Christian lifestyle expressing
the values of peace and justice.
- Reinforce
and support parents’ values and goals through
communication with students and parents.
-
Build a sense of community by helping children realize
their own personal dignity and the worth of others
by understanding their rights and how to give and
take constructive criticism.
-
Teach the skills necessary for learning and encourage
children to reach their highest potential in every
area of their lives.
-
Develop courageous Christian leaders to keep ever
before them the hope of a better world.
The
Catholic Faith
Holy Name School recognizes and respects the fact that
some of its students may have different faith traditions.
However, Holy Name School affirms its right as a Catholic
institution to celebrate the faith traditions, which
are a part of its educational mission. Students are
expected to participate in all religious functions and
to study the Catholic religion as an academic subject.
Holy Name Catholic School has been serving the people
of Ketchikan for over fifty years. The school is open
to all children, Pre-school – 8th grade, who are
willing to learn regardless of race, creed or national
origin. Students from different faith communities and
church backgrounds are welcome and find a comfortable
home at Holy Name School.
