Classroom Discipline

 My Core Beliefs

    1. Every attempt will be made to maintain the dignity and self-respect of both the student and the teacher.
    2. Students will be guided and expected to solve their problems without creating problems for anyone else.
    3. Students will be given opportunities to make decisions and live with the consequences, be they good or bad.
    4. Misbehavior will be handled with natural or logical consequences instead of punishment, whenever possible.
    5. Misbehavior will be viewed as an opportunity for individual problem solving and preparation for the real world as opposed to a personal attack or annoyance.
    6. Students and/or parents are encouraged to request a conference whenever consequences appear to be unfair.

 Classroom Guidelines

  1. I will treat you with respect, so you will know how to treat me.
  2. Feel free to do anything that doesn’t cause a problem for anyone else.
  3. If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it.
  4. If you can’t solve the problem, or choose not to, I will do something.
  5. What I do, will depend on the special person, and the special situation.
  6. If you feel something is unfair, whisper to me, “I’m not sure that’s fair,” and we will talk later.
My classroom management system is based on Love & Logic, which was developed by Jim Fay and Foster Cline.
