The purpose of homework is to build positive study habits by engaging in short practice sessions at home. The assignments are designed to reinforce skills already learned.

Homework is assigned Monday - Thursday, and should take about 30 minutes each night.

Check daily "Homework Pads" for any changes during the week.

If there are questions, parents and students can use the Homework Hotline (Ms. Lucas 617-4849) to get quick answers.

Math Focus
There is an old saying, "If you want to learn something well, then teach it!" This is your child's chance to "show off" what he/she knows. Students will be bringing home some activities that reinforce math skills.

Students will bring home a math game or worksheet to be completed at home and turned in the next day.
No math homework for week of 5/27

OPTIONAL: Here's a website that provides additional arithmetic practice:

Reading Assignments

Students should read for 15 minutes each evening. They may check out books from school or read books that they have at home. Sometimes it can be a shared reading time (the parent could read a story to the child). The goal is to build a love of reading - and to get in the habit of reading each evening.

Spelling Choices
Choose an activity to help you study the words for a test on Friday. It's okay to do the same activity each night. Choose what works best for you - something that you can do in 10 minutes.

*Have someone give you a practice test
*Make flash cards and study them
*Put the flash cards in alphabetical order
*Write each word three times - either by hand or computer
*Take 3 of the hardest words and write a good sentence for each word
*Draw a picture of each word and write the word below the picture
